Title:
TERMINAL BOX HAVING AN INCREASED SHORT-CIRCUIT CURRENT RATING, FOR ELECTRICAL MACHINES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/059477
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a terminal box having an increased short-circuit current rating, for high-voltage electrical machines at different locations of use. The problem to be solved is that of devising a terminal box which avoids the danger from exploding parts, is built in a structurally simple manner, and can be retrofitted without much difficulty onto electrical machines that are already in operation. According to the invention, one or more additional open or automatically-opening terminal box shafts 4 are arranged on said terminal box 1, on a terminal box housing 3. Said terminal box shafts 4 can point in different directions, such as preferably upwards, laterally, or also downwards. They are made to be considerably longer than has been customary until now. This allows the short-circuit current rating and the protection against arcing of the terminal box to be increased. As a whole, overall environmental safety is increased at the location and in the region of operation of the high-voltage machine concerned. Another substantial advantage is that of reducing the risk of accidents for the operating personnel.
