Abstract:
Disclosed is a testing method using a guided wave capable of estimating the defect cross-sectional area and the defect width of a defective portion of a subject at the same time. (A) First data for estimating the amount of loss indicating the relationship between the amplitude of a reflected wave and the defect cross-sectional area and that between the amplitude of the reflected wave and the defect width when a guided wave has a first frequency is determined in advance. (B) Second data for estimating the amount of loss indicating the relationship between the amplitude of a reflected wave and the defect cross-sectional area and that between the amplitude of the reflected wave and the defect width when a guided wave has a second frequency is determined in advance. (C) A guided wave with the first frequency to be propagated through a subject is generated, and the amplitude of the reflected wave of the guided wave is detected as a first amplitude. (D) A guided wave with the second frequency to be propagated through the subject is generated, and the amplitude of the reflected wave of the guided wave is detected as a second amplitude. (E) The defect cross-sectional area and the defect width of the defective portion are estimated on the basis of the first and second data for estimating the amount of loss and the first and second amplitudes.
