Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a thermal printer which enables double face printing using multiple ink sheets, and which results in a reduction in energy consumption. This thermal printer 100 is provided with: multiple printing mechanisms that continuously make prints on a recording paper 7 drawn from a recording paper roll 8 according to a printing sequence so as to form printed matter; and a control unit 5 that controls the multiple printing mechanisms. Each of the multiple printing mechanisms is provided with a thermal head, a platen roller disposed so as to oppose the thermal head, and a temperature detection unit for detecting the temperature of the thermal head. Multiple types of ink sheets are used for the printing performed in the multiple printing mechanisms. The control unit 5 determines the printing sequence in accordance with the temperatures detected by the respective temperature detection units of the multiple printing mechanisms.
