Abstract:
A thermoelectric device (22) comprises: a heating member (26) for heating and thereby vaporizing a liquid-phase working fluid in a heat pipe (24); a thermoelectric element (36) for generating power using heat from a gas-phase working fluid; a cooling member (heat-transfer adjusting member (30)) provided on the heat pipe (24) at the same position as the thermoelectric element (36) or opposite to the heating member (26) with respect to the thermoelectric element (36), and cooling and thereby condensing the gas-phase working fluid; and a noncondensing gas (NC) contained in the heat pipe (24) opposite to the heating member (26) with respect to the cooling member, and forming a boundary phase (46) between the noncondensing gas (NC) and the gas-phase working fluid that moves in accordance with the pressure of the working fluid, wherein the area of movement of the boundary phase (46) is set to a heat-receiving region in which the cooling member receives heat from the gas-phase working fluid.
