Abstract:
 Provided are a thick steel plate having excellent high heat input welding characteristics and uniformity of material within the steel plate, and a method for manufacturing said steel plate. A thick steel plate comprising 0.030-0.080% of C, 0.01-0.10% of Si, 1.20-2.40% of Mn, 0.008% or less of P, 0.0005-0.0040% of S, 0.005-0.080% of Al, 0.003-0.040% of Nb, 0.003-0.040% of Ti, 0.0030-0.0100% of N, 0.0003-0.0030% of B (percentages given with respect to mass), and additionally, as needed, one or more of Cu, Ni, Cr, Mo, V, Ca, Zr, and REM, the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities. The range of fluctuation in the Vickers hardness (HV) in each of the plate thickness direction and the plate width direction (ΔHV) being no more than 30. A manufacturing method in which a steel material having the above composition is heated to a temperature of 1000-1300°C and hot rolled, whereupon the hot-rolled steel material, immediately before accelerated cooling, is descaled under conditions in which the colliding pressure of the jetting stream on the surface of the steel plate is 1 MPa or more, after which accelerated cooling is performed.
