Abstract:
A process for producing a steel sheet of given thickness excelling in the uniformity of
material properties along the length of the steel sheet with the use of a reversing rolling
mill and a through cooling unit. In particular, there is disclosed a rolling-cooling
process using a rolling-cooling apparatus having a first-step through cooling
unit and a second-step through cooling unit disposed downstream of a reversing
hot rolling mill, the process including the steps of: 1. at the rolling just prior
to final rolling in the finish rolling, cooling the steel sheet by the first-step
through cooling unit so that the rolling finishing temperature of the final rolling
at the front end area of the steel sheet is identical with that at the rear end area
of the steel sheet; 2. at the cooling of the steel sheet after the finish rolling
by means of the second-step through cooling unit, cooling the steel sheet by means
of the first-step through cooling unit so that the cooling starting temperature
at the front end area of the steel sheet is identical with that at the rear end area
of the steel sheet; and 3. cooling the steel sheet by passage thereof through
the second-step through cooling unit at a constant rate.
