Abstract:
This three-cylinder variable-compression-ratio internal combustion engine includes a variable compression ratio mechanism, a first balance mass (13) provided to a crank pulley (11), and a second balance mass (14) provided to a drive plate (12). The variable compression ratio mechanism uses a multi-link piston crank mechanism with which the compression ratio can be changed. The crank pulley (11) and the drive plate (12) operate integrally with a crank shaft (6). The first balance mass (13) and the second balance mass (14) are tuned according to a target compression ratio during idling so as to reduce the vibration of the internal combustion engine during idling. The three-cylinder variable-compression-ratio internal combustion engine according to the present invention can reduce vibration during idling when a driver is more likely to be aware of said vibration.
