Abstract:

A three-dimensional multi-cell structure with an adjustable Poisson's ratio and coefficient of thermal expansion. The structure is obtained from several three-dimensional unit cell structures by means of a spatially periodic array, wherein each three-dimensional unit cell structure is obtained by means of splicing, in a space, four plane units having an identical shape, size and material combination manner; each of the plane units is of a quadrilateral planar structure composed of two triangular structures or of a combined quadrilateral planar structure composed of four triangular structures which are combined; the three sides of each of the triangular structures are respectively made of three different materials, the Young modulus, cross sectional area and coefficient of thermal expansion of each of the materials being adjustable; and the three vertex angles of each triangular structure are adjustable. Triangular structures are used as planar basic units of a three-dimensional unit cell structure; the Poisson's ratio and coefficient of thermal expansion of a three-dimensional multi-cell structure are adjustable by means of adjusting the vertex angles of the triangular structures; and negative Poisson's ratio and negative thermal expansion characteristics are achieved by means of a simple structure.
