Abstract:
Disclosed in embodiments of the present application are a timer processing method and apparatus. The method comprises: a terminal device is in a cell handover process, determines that a reordering timer of a PDCP layer expires, the length of the reordering timer being a first duration, and does not update a time window, sets the length of the reordering timer to be a second duration, and then restarts the reordering timer, the second duration being longer than the first duration. According to the embodiments of the present application, when a reordering timer expires, a time window is not updated, i.e., RX_DELIV is not updated, and the reordering timer having a longer timer length is restarted, thereby reducing the packet loss rate resulting from the reordering timer expiring in a cell handover process.
