Abstract:

A top cap assembly is mounted in a battery cell in which an electrode assembly having an anode/separation film/cathode structure is sealed within a battery case together with an electrolyte, and a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal are arranged at the top of the battery case. The top cap assembly comprises a protective circuit module (PCM), and an electrically insulating top cap housing which encloses an outer surface of the PCM and which is mounted at the top of the battery cell. The PCM comprises: a protective circuit board (PCB) which has a protective circuit formed thereon, and which is coupled to a mechanical joint portion of a terminal block described below; connecting portions connected to the first electrode terminal and to the second electrode terminal; a safety element; and the terminal block which is mounted on the PCB and which includes a connector.
