Abstract:
This invention produces an impeller of a torque converter at low cost. This torque converter is equipped with a front cover (2), an impeller (4), a turbine (5), and a stator (6). The impeller (4) has an impeller shell (10) connected to the front cover (2), a plurality of impeller blades (11) provided inside the impeller shell (10), and an impeller hub (13). The impeller hub (13) is formed in a cylindrical shape extending in the axial direction, and the engine side end portion is fixed to the inner peripheral portion of the impeller shell (10) by friction welding and has a burr (13b) generated during the friction welding.
