7. A towel holding clip in accordance with Claims 1 to 6 where the towel holding clip is made from a flexible material so that the device can be twisted were the slit is located on the first side to allow it to be fitted to a head rest support without having to remove the headrest, to do so.

Description:
“Towel Clip”

Field of the Invention

[001 ] The present invention relates to a towel holding clip that may be used for securing towels against the backrest and on the seat of motor vehicles.

Background to the Invention

[002] It regularly happens that individuals use their motor vehicles after work, being at the beach or simply after messy practices, often resulting in dirty or wet garments being worn, this usually results in the permanent soiling or damage of their car seats. Unfortunately placing a towel or temporary material for protection against the backrest of the seat without some supporting means or on the seat of a vehicle to protect it is not practical nor functional.

[003] The present invention provides and relates to a simple device that may be used to hold a towel or protective material in place on the backrest and seat of a vehicle.

Summary of the Invention

[004] According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a towel holding clip consisting of:

a teardrop shaped device that includes a first side, a cut through on a second side to form a ‘C profile, an arcuate protrusion on a third side to receive a vehicle headrest support and a further smaller arcuate protrusion on a forth side that is connected by the narrowing down of the first and second side to form a fabric trap to grip a towel or fabric material for example.

[005] Preferably the towel holding clip is arcuate in transverse section to match the shape of the top of a vehicle seat.

[006] Preferably the first and second sides of the towel holding device are curved and narrowed down to meet the arc on the forth side.

[007] In one embodiment the curved and narrowed down inward edges of the towel holding clip includes a chamfer that starts at the widest ends of the first and second sides, gradually increasing to form a sharp grip at the edge of the arc on the forth side. [008] Preferably in the centre of the arc on the forth side, there is provided a rounded aperture to receive the towel or fabric material, and to cause a gripping effect.

[009] Preferably the towel holding clip is made from a flexible material so that the device can be twisted were the split is located on the first side to allow it to be fitted to a head rest support without having to remove the headrest to do so.

Brief Description of the Drawings

[010] The invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the following drawings in which:

[01 1 ] Figure 1 is an upper perspective view of the towel holding clip in accordance with the present invention;

[012] Figure 2 is a top view of the towel holding clip;

[013] Figure 3 is the lower end view of the towel holding clip;

[014] Figure 4 is an upper end view of the towel holding clip;

[015] Figure 5 is a side view of the towel holding clip showing the arcuate transverse profile;

[016] Figure 6 is a bottom view of the towel holding clip from the underside;

[017] Figure 7 is an upper perspective view of the towel holding clip being fitted to a seat headrest support;

[018] Figure 8 is an upper perspective view of the towel holding clips fitted to a vehicle car seat holding a standard towel against a backrest.

Detailed Description of Preferred Embodiments

[019] Referring to the figures, there is shown a towel holding clip 10 that is formed such that it is generally teardrop shaped and includes a first side 19, a cut through 5 on a second side 20 to form a‘C’ profile, an arcuate protrusion 3 on a third side 17 to receive a vehicle headrest support post 1 1 as seen on figures 7 and 8 and a further smaller arcuate protrusion 4 on a forth side 18 that is connected by the narrowing down of the first side 20 and a second side 19 to form a fabric trap 8 to grip a towel or fabric material 9 that can best be seen in figure 8 for example. [020] The towel holding clip 10 is arcuate in transverse section 6 to match the shape of the top of a vehicle seat, this can best be seen in figure 5

[021 ] The first side 20 and second side 19 of the towel holding clip 10 are curved and narrowed down to meet the arc 4 on the fourth side 18. An aperture 21 best seen in figures 1 ,2,6 and 7 is provided to receive the headrest support post 1 1 and a slit 5 is provided to allow a twisting action to occur to engage the towel holding cl i p 10 to the headrest support post 1 1 best seen in figure 7. An arcuate cavity 7 is located on the third side 17 of the towel holding cl i p 10 to engage with the headrest support post 1 1 in use.

[022] Curved and narrowed down inward edges 22 and 23 of the towel holding clip 10 includes chamfers 13 that begin at the widest ends of the first and second sides 20 and 19, gradually increasing to form a sharp grip at the fabric trap 8 on the fourth side. The fabric trap 8 provides a round aperture to receive the towel or fabric material 9, and to cause a gripping effect.

[023] The towel holding clip 10 may be made from, but not limited to a flexible material such that the device can be twisted were the slit 5 is located on the first side 20 to allow it to be fitted to a head rest support post 1 1 without having to remove the vehicle headrest to do so.

[024] It will be readily apparent to persons skilled in the relevant arts that various modifications and improvements may be made to the foregoing embodiments, in addition to those already described, without departing from the basic inventive concepts of the present invention.
