Abstract:
The proposed barrier is provided with a base unit (1) on which is mounted a single-bottom cylinder (2) provided internally with a piston (3) and rod (4), and with a barrier element (6) housed in folded configuration and provided along the top with pointed elements (5). The rod (4) is connected to the front end of the barrier element (6) which is provided with a pair of wheels (7). At the bottom of the cylinder (2) there is an aperture connected to the casing (8) of a gas source. The barrier element (6) comprises intersecting plates (9) which are joined at their intersection points and at their ends by pivots (10) on which are fitted the detachable pointed elements (5). The latter are fitted on the pivots (10) only of the middle and outermost (i.e. furthest from the cylinder (2)) rows of the hinges of the barrier (6). The proposed barrier is set up on the shoulder of a road. At the appropriate moment, a signal is given to actuate the gas source (8). The piston (3) and rod (4) start to move inside the cylinder (2), gather speed and drag the barrier element (6) out of the base unit (1). The front end of the barrier element (6) lands on the pair of wheels (7) and advances under its own momentum, thus dragging the barrier element (6) further until it lies across the road with the pointed elements (5) pointing upwards.
