Abstract:
Provided are a traffic signal housing and a road sign which are lightweight and exhibit excellent weather resistance in comparison to conventional traffic signal housings and road signs which use metal plate. A thermosetting resin is used to coat a surface of a prepreg comprising thermoplastic resin and sheet-shaped high-strength fibre comprising carbon fibre or basalt fibre, the prepreg is layered, in a sandwiched structure, with a sheet-shaped thermoplastic resin and the sheet-shaped high-strength fibre to obtain a layered body which is hot pressed to obtain a high-strength fibre composite from which the traffic signal housing and the road sign are formed. The traffic signal housing and the road sign exhibit excellent weather resistance with respect to salt erosion or the like, and are lightweight, and thus support posts having reduced strength can be used therewith.
