Abstract:
The element of a transmission belt which is wound around a pulley of a continuously variable transmission has a body, a pair of pillar portions and a pair of side surfaces. The pair of side surfaces include, a first side surface formed on the pillar portion and a second side surface positioned further towards the inner peripheral side than the first side surface, and that is formed contiguously with the first side surface. Each of the pair of first side surfaces is formed so as to be inclined towards the inside of the pillar portion with respect to the direction of extension of the contiguous second side surface from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side of the ring, and the pair of second side surfaces become more distant from one another moving from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side, and the angle formed by the pair of second side surfaces is 0.2° to 0.8° greater than the opening angle of the V-shaped groove of the pulley.
