Abstract:
The present technique relates to a transmission device and a transmission method, a reception device and a reception method, and a program which make it possible to ensure good communication quality during information transfer using an LDPC code. LDPC encoding is performed using an LDPC code examination matrix having a code length of 736 bits and an encoding rate of 1/4, and modulation is performed using an iterative unit in which an LDPC code obtained by LDPC encoding is iteratively arranged. The LDPC code includes an information bit and a parity bit. The examination matrix includes an information matrix portion corresponding to the information bit and a parity matrix portion corresponding to the parity bit. The parity matrix portion has a step structure. The information matrix portion is represented by an examination matrix initial value table. The examination matrix initial value table comprises a predetermined table in which the position of one element of the information matrix portion is represented by every eight columns. The present technique may be applied for information transfer using an LDPC code.
