Abstract:
The present invention enables viewing restrictions from security problems in a receiver to be appropriately exerted. A container stream including an encoded stream of program content data is generated. Version information indicating the latest version of data to be updated which has had security measures applied thereto is inserted into the container stream. The container stream into which the version information was inserted is transmitted. This enables the receiver to exert viewing restrictions using this version information only when the version of data to be updated possessed by the receiver is not higher than or equal to the version indicated by the version information.
