Abstract:
The disclosed transmission device, transmission method, reception device and reception method enable appropriate and efficient processing on the receiving side which receives a transport stream (TS) containing in time division a first video stream in which two-dimensional image data has been inserted and a second video stream in which three-dimensional image data has been inserted. First identification information and second identification information are inserted into the transport stream (TS). The first identification information is for distinguishing whether the video stream contained in the stream (TS) is the first video stream or the second video stream. The second identification information is for distinguishing whether or not the first identification information has been inserted. 3D signaling information including the first identification information is inserted into the user data region of the sequence header or the picture header. The second identification information is included in the video stream descriptor inserted under the PMT video elementary loop.
