Abstract:
A transmission device 100 comprises the following: a communication unit 110 provided with input/output terminals for inputting and outputting electrical signals of a prescribed frequency; and two coupling electrodes 120a, 120b that couple with the input/output terminals respectively and that couple with one transmission medium 200 so as to be side-by-side in the longitudinal direction of the transmission medium 200. An input/output circuit of the communication unit 110 is constituted by a balanced circuit that can cause the two coupling electrodes 120a, 120b to function so as to be mutually switchable. The two coupling electrodes 120a, 120b are, when coupled with the transmission medium 200, disposed along the longitudinal direction of the transmission medium 200 at positions that are symmetrical on a surface orthogonal to the direction in which electrical signals flow. In a case where the two coupling electrodes 120a, 120b are coupled with transmission medium 200, and in a case where the length from one coupling electrode of the two coupling electrodes 120a, 120b to one end of the transmission medium 200 in the longitudinal direction thereof is the electrical length in the (2n·90±45) degree (n is an integer of at least 0) range of electrical signals and the length from the second coupling electrode of the two coupling electrodes 120a, 120b to the second end of the transmission medium 200 in the longitudinal direction thereof is the electrical length in the ((2n+1)·90±45) degree range of electrical signals, the communication unit 110 sends and receives electrical signals to and from another transmission device 300 that is coupled with the transmission medium 200 in a region thereof which is the electrical-length in the (2n·90±45) degree range electrical signals, such sending and receiving carried out as a result of a region of the transmission medium 200 from the position at which the second coupling electrode is coupled to the second end of the medium serving as ground, in a case where the two coupling electrodes 120a, 120b have been coupled with transmission medium 200.
