Description:
Transom Window Opening Apparatus

Technical Field

It is related to the apparatus that enables the transom windows with the feature of half opening and closing in vertical and/or horizontal axis, getting from semi-open to full-open position with an external intervention, especially during rescue operations of firefighters and by locksmiths.

Prior Art

A few apparatuses and methods are known in the prior art that can open semi-open transom windows from outside. However, it is very difficult to use the mentioned apparatuses. In any of the transom window opening apparatuses in the prior art, there is no carrying handle that will ease external intervention.

In the European patent coded EP1953320 in the prior art, an apparatus used to open and close the transom windows is mentioned. Said apparatus works by means of a single rope. The lock on the apparatus contains a swing plate for connection with the pin. It intervenes in a retaining latch operated by the release lever by means of a flexible blade that coincides with a cam obtained on the swing plate. The rope in the said European patent enables the mechanism to be opened and closed from the inside. The rope is not used to interfere in any way from outside.

In the American patent coded US20060028807 in the prior art, a locksmith apparatus containing a probe with an integrated light source is mentioned. Said locksmith apparatus is used to open the vehicle doors from the outside. The manipulative tip of the probe includes an integral light source for illuminating of the interior of a vehicle door and, preferably, a slip resistant finish or surface to effect movement of a door handle or door lock associated with such locked door. The probe in the mentioned American patent enables the vehicle doors to be opened from the outside. It is not possible to use in transom windows.

An apparatus and method for manipulating the doorknob of a locked door is disclosed in the US patent document coded US5123307 in the prior art. A long rod is inserted under the door and rotated a vertical position. A gripper is attached to the rod and engages the doorknob as the rod is rotated. A cord is attached to the doorknob, and using the rod and cord together turns the doorknob and opens the locked door. It is not possible to open transom windows with mentioned apparatus and method.

Purpose of the Invention

The aim of the invention is to provide an apparatus that enables the transom windows with the feature of half opening and closing in vertical and/or horizontal axis, getting from semi-open to full-open position with an external intervention, especially during rescue operations of firefighters and by locksmiths.

Another purpose of the invention is to obtain an apparatus that allows a transom window, which is in a semi-open position from the top, to be brought to a fully open position without damaging the transom and window casing, in cases where the keys of the exterior doors are lost.

The transom opening apparatus developed to realize the mentioned purposes includes a pull handle, a carrier link handle, and a body. The invention also includes a carrying handle, a pulling element, and a suction to easily attach the transom opening tool to the window handle and to perform the opening operation.

Explanation of the Invention

It is related to the apparatus that enables the transom windows with the feature of half opening and closing in vertical and/or horizontal axis, getting from semi-open to full-open position with an external intervention, especially during rescue operations of firefighters and by locksmiths. Said handle holder apparatus (100) comprises the pull handle (110), the carrier link handle (120) and the body (130). The invention also includes the carrying handle (200), the pulling element (400) and the suction (500) to easily attach the handle holder apparatus (100) to the window handle and to perform the opening operation.

The pull handle (110) and the carrier link handle (120) are joined through the mounting holes (113, 124) and fixed together with the help of bolts. The body (130) is positioned inside the body slot (112, 122) located on the pull handle (110) and the carrier link handle (120) before the fixing process is performed.

For the pull handle (110) not to be too heavy, easing gaps (114) are left on the said pull handle (110). In alternative embodiments of the invention, the shape and length of the easing gaps (114) may vary. In another alternative embodiment, there are no easing gaps (114) on the pull handle (110). For the carrier link handle (120) not to be too heavy, easing gaps (125) are left on the said carrier link handle (120). In alternative embodiments of the invention, the shape and length of the easing gaps (125) may vary. In another alternative embodiment, there are no mitigation gaps (125) on the carrier link handle (120).

The body (130) is the part that encloses the transom (window) handle. There are niches (131) on the body (130) that facilitate holding. On the inside of the body (130), there is a window handle holder (133) so that the transom (window) handle can enter. Resisting bulges (132) are located on the window handle holder (133) inside the body (130). Resisting bulges (132) add resistance to the body (130) to prevent the body (130) from breaking under extreme stresses. In this way, the body (130) fulfils its function without breaking even under extreme stresses. The body (130) is made of plastic -derived materials. In alternative embodiments of the invention, the body (130) can also be produced from metal. In another alternative application of the invention, the body (130) is not used. When the body (130) is not used, the body slots (112, 122) take the window handle directly into it.

There is a pulling element connection area (111, 121) on the pull handle (110) and the carrier link handle (120), which are the elements of the handle holder apparatus (100). When the handle holder apparatus (100) is positioned on the window handle, the pulling element connection area (111,121) remains below the centre rotation axis of the said window handle by the length “k”. The length “k” is 1 to 20 cm in the proposed application of the invention. However, in alternative embodiments of the invention, it may vary according to the size of the window.

The long edges of the pull handle (110) and the carrier link handle (120) are angled by "a°" so that the pulling element connection area (111, 121) remains under the window handle. The angle “a°” can range from 1° to 90°. In alternative embodiments of the invention, the values of the angle “a°” can vary according to the window sizes. However, the handle in which the pulling element connection area (111, 121) is located has a length of "h". The optimum value range of the "h" length is 3 to 50cm. However, the length of "h" may vary depending on the size of the transom windows used. Since the said handle is long and the body slots (112, 122) remain below the central axis, the window handle is brought from the semiopen position to the fully open position with less force.

There is a distance of "y" between the centre axis of the body slot (112, 122) and the end of the window casing. There is a distance of "t" between the carrying handle connection area (123) and the centre axis of the body slot (112, 122). Distance "y" is greater than distance "t". The handle holder apparatus (100) can be easily placed on the window handle since the "y" distance is greater than the distance "t".

When the handle holder apparatus (100) is mounted, the pulling element connection areas (111, 121) coincide with each other. The pulling element connection areas (111, 121) provide the easy connection of the pulling element (400) to be used in the transom opening process. As the pulling element (400), products made of materials with high transformability are preferred. Pulling element (400) consists of materials such as rope, cord, wire, fishline, etc.

The handle holder apparatus (100) is used with the help of the carrying handle (200), the pulling element (400) and the suction (500). The handle holder apparatus (100) subject to the invention enables the transom window (300), which is in the semi-open position, to be opened from the outside without any mechanical force or breakage.

Although the carrying handle (200) looks like a separate product, it is an element of the handle holder apparatus (100). The said carrying handle (200) ensures that the transom window (300), which is in the semi-open position, is placed on the window handle located inside. In alternative embodiments of the invention, the length and thickness values of the carrying handle (200) can vary according to the type of window.

Carrying handle (200) consists the carrying handle body (210), the handle (220), the flexible compression apparatus (230) and the stop washer (240). The carrying handle body (210) can be made of hard metal or plastic material. In order not to damage the hand, the handle (220), which has a softer and smoother structure, is used in the part to be held by hand. The handle (220) is fixed to the carrying handle body (210) through the mounting holes (221) on it and the mounting holes (212) on the carrying handle body. Easing gaps (213) are left on the carrying handle body (210) so that the carrying handle (200) is not too heavy. In alternative embodiments of the invention, the shape and length of the easing gaps (213) may vary. In another alternative embodiment, there are no easing gaps (213) on the carrying handle body

(210).

The carrying handle (200) ensures that the handle holder apparatus (100) can be easily placed on the window handle. There is a distance equal to "t" between the carrying handle connection area (123) and the body (130) that contains the window handle. Thanks to the "t" distance mentioned, the handle holder apparatus (100) can be easily fixed to the window handle from the transom opening. The distance "t" can vary between 5 and 50 cm. In alternative embodiments of the invention, the dimensions of the "t" distance can vary according to the window types and sizes.

Easy placement of the handle holder apparatus (100) on the window handle from outside is provided by the tabs (211) on the carrying handle body (210). The tabs

(211) enter the carrying handle connection area (123) located on the carrier link handle (120) and thus the apparatus subject to the invention can be used easily. In alternative embodiments of the invention, instead of the tab (211), a magnetized system can also be used.

Flexible compression apparatus (230) and stop washer (240) are located on the carrying handle (200). The flexible compression apparatus (230) ensures that the carrying handle (200) does not come out after connecting to the handle holder apparatus (100) with the tabs (211). In addition, flexible compression apparatus (230) has fixing holes (231) on it so that it can pass through the tabs (211). The stop washer (240) prevents the flexible compression apparatus (230) from getting back. There is a fixing hole (241) on said stop washer (240) to ensure that the stop washer (240) is easily fixed to the carrying handle body (210). The stop washer (240) is made of metal or hard plastic material. The handle holder apparatus (100) connected to the pulling element (400) is placed on the transom window (300) handle with the help of the carrying handle (200). After the placement process is done, the window transom, which is in the half-open position, is pulled outwards with the help of the suction (500), paying attention to the pulling element (400) remaining outside. Then, by applying a downward force to the pulling element (400), the window handle is brought from the semi-open position to the fully open position.

Closing the transom window (300) by pulling outwards with the suction (500),

Pulling the pulling element (400) downwards and bringing the transom window (300) handle to the open position, pushing the window from outside to inside.
