Description:
A transport chair for patient, elderly and disabled people

TECHNICAL FIELD

The invention relates generally to a patient chair used in the medical field, which facilitates the transfer of patients, the elderly and the handicapped, or from one place to another. In particular, the invention relates to a patient transport chair which enables elderly and / or orthopedic patients and persons with disabilities to carry out the transport chair by themselves or with the help of their companions and to perform this action without difficulty. THE KNOWN STATUS OF THE TECHNIQUE

Patient transport chairs are used to move patients, elderly people or disabled people from one place to another, who have; limited mobility or movement difficulty. Nowadays, there are various systems such as manual or electric drive. In the medical field, especially in hospitals, manual patient transport chairs are used more frequently. However, the technology used in these chairs, deficiencies and mistakes, leave a difficult situation to the patients and companions together with them.

There are no additional support for patient transport and disabled wheelchairs to facilitate while sitting down and standing up. This situation causes difficulties and also makes it impossible for the patients, the elderly and the disabled people to do the activity of sitting and standing alone. In addition, existing chairs constitute a dangerous situation that causes to live also accidents such as, falling, injury etc. of patients or users.

The absence of additional support to facilitate sitting and lifting in patient transport chairs of the present technique, necessitates that patients need the assistance of their companions and / or health workers while performing these actions. In the known status of the technique, the patient transport seats are directly mounted without any additional support parts and this includes a non-ergonomic structure. This comfortless structure does not support the physiological structure of the patients and is being particularly painful for patients with serious conditions.

In the known status of the technique, a wheelchair application is mentioned in the national patent document TR2016 / 14888.

This patent document refers to the structure of the patient's chair, which works with the principle of dislocating system from seat of the patient and sliding the patient from the patient's seat, providing to transfer the patients safely and quickly, which is opened from the right and left, for the patients who have difficulty in stroke and riding. The purpose of the mentioned document makes it easy to sit and stand as in our application; but, in this document, it is provided with different technique. It also does not provide a structure that includes an extra convenience for individuals who will perform sitting and standing alone.

As a result, patient transport chairs are being improved and therefore new structures are needed to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned above and bring solutions to existing systems.

THE PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a patient transport chair; compensates the above- mentioned requirements, eliminating all disadvantages and introducing some additional advantages.

The main purpose of the invention is; to enable the patients to do actions of sitting on and standing up from the patient transportation chair themselves singly, without needing any assistance.

An object of the invention is; to provide of the patients or other users (elderly and disabled), patients and / or elderly and disabled transport chair alone or with the help of attendants and / or health officials to perform sit and get up safely without living accidents such as falls, injuries and etc.

Another object of the invention is; to provide a unpainful, convenient and ergonomic patient transport chair which supports the physiological structure of the patients and minimizes their discomfort in the sitting platform at existing transport chairs by additional support elements.

In order to realize all the advantages mentioned above and which will be understood from the following detailed description, the present invention includes; a mainframe carrying the general structure of the patient transport chair, and in particular a patient transport chair comprising a seating platform supporting the force from the weight, which facilitates the patients to sit and stand alone..

The structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the invention will be understood apparently from the figures given below and by the detailed description made with reference to these figures. Therefore, the evaluation should be made by consideration of these figures and detailed explanation.

THE DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION

In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of a patient transport chair according to the invention are described for a better understanding of the subject and without any limiting effect.

A patient is seated on a sitting platform (2) which is in an inclined position, which is positioned on the main frame (1 ) which carries the general sturucture of the patient transport chair moving by the casters (14). The torsion spring (3), or the helical springed, hydraulic or pneumatic shock absorber (16), which is connected between the aforementioned platform and the connecting shaft (5) to transfer all forces to the main frame (1 ), begins to compensate the force coming from the patient's weight. Thus, the patient's knees are prevented from being overloaded and sitting action is facilitated. Furthermore, the connection of the connecting shaft (5) and the main frame (1 ) with each other can be disassembled and assembled if necessary by means of the connecting sleeve (6) and the connecting shaft union (1 1 ).

Together with the sitting of the patient, the force coming from the weight is stored as a potential energy in the torsion spring (3) or the damper (16). In addition, the spring retaining pin (7) or the upper and lower articulated bearings (18) in the embodiment help to compensate the force moment from the weight by transferring to the connecting shaft (5) and thus to the main frame (1 ). When the patient is going to get up, the potential energy stored within the torsion spring (3) begins to transform into kinetic energy and helps the patient to lift by supporting the patient from underneath. This will reduce the patient's effort to get up, and particularly the load on his knees.

The energy stored during the lift is balanced by the hydraulic brake mechanism (8). Thus, the spring is prevented from opening rapidly by sudden reaction, and it is ensured that the patient's lift rate is reduced and controlled, slow and comfortable. The hydraulic brake mechanism (8) is mounted to the connecting shaft (5) in the direction of the movement axis and with the brake connection union (10).

Nevertheless, it is provided to be useful of the chair that, the spring slide (4), which also allows contact with the torsion spring (3) between the seating platform (2) and provides the possible relative movement and the friction to arise during the closing and opening of the spring, can also be obtained by means of the upper and lower articulated bearings (18) in the alternative damping system.

Additionally all of these are provided with the joint bearing (9) in the patient transport chair to allow the seating platform (2) to work with the connecting shaft (5) and to move the platform angularly. Hereby, it is aimed to move the patient comfortably and not to restrict the movements. In addition, the mounting and disassembly of the joint bearing (9), torsion spring (3) or damper (16) and the hydraulic brake mechanism (9), which are mounted on the connecting shaft (5) in the patient transport chair, is provided by the so-called connecting shaft union (1 1 ).

Most of the parts mentioned in the patient transport chair are removable elements, allow the parts to be separated from each other easily when it is needed. The additional support elements used in the seating platform (2) of the present invention are intended to provide a comfortable and safe seating and uplift, and an ergonomic design suitable for human physiology. In addition, there is a useful handle (15) in order to help who are assisting patients, not to be exhausted or strained when directing the patient transport chair.

Individuals sitting in the patient's transport chair put their feet on the footrests (12), which are opened and closed towards to the right and left, which are consist of two parts and providing more comfortable sit and stand. They rest their arms against the armrests (13) on both sides of the structure. Thus, the patient can sit comfortably in the transport chair for a long time if necessary.
