Abstract:
Provided is a travel assistance method in which: another vehicle (2) which is traveling in a second lane (101) next to a first lane (100) in which a host vehicle (1) is traveling is detected; information pertaining to the lane shape of the first lane (100) is obtained; a non-travelable region (200) in which traveling of the host vehicle (1) is prohibited is set around the other vehicle (2); a travelable region (202) in which the host vehicle (1) can travel is set ahead of the host vehicle (1) on the basis of the non-travelable region (200) and the lane shape so that a lateral interval which is an interval in the lane width direction between the host vehicle (1) and the other vehicle (2) is secured ahead of the host vehicle (1); and the host vehicle (1) is controlled to travel in the travelable region (202) ahead of the host vehicle (1).
