Abstract:
Disclosed are a traveling robot and a control method thereof. The traveling robot comprises a depth camera and at least one processor that: controls the camera to acquire depth data in one or more areas in which the traveling robot travels; identifies a plurality of scan data sets corresponding to a plurality of height levels set in advance on the basis of the acquired depth data; identifies a plurality of feature scores respectively corresponding to the plurality of scan data sets and identified on the basis of the plurality of scan data sets; and generates at least one local map corresponding to at least one piece of scan data among the plurality of scan data sets, wherein the feature score corresponding to the at least one piece of scan data among the plurality of feature scores is at least a preset threshold score.
