Abstract:
The present invention provides: a Janus-type triptycene derivative which is represented by general formula [I] and is useful as a material for a self-assembled monomolecular film; a Janus-type triptycene derivative which is represented by general formula [II] and can be used as a raw material for the production of the aforementioned derivative; and methods respectively for producing the derivatives. The present invention also provides: a film-forming material containing the Janus-type triptycene derivative; a self-assembled film produced using the material; a solid substrate having the film formed on the surface thereof; and a method for producing the film. (In the formulae, X represents a linker group such as an oxygen atom; R1 represents a long-chain group; Z represents a hydrogen atom or any one of various functional groups which is located at the terminal; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or any one of various substituents.)
