Title:
TWO-COMPONENT EPOXY ADHESIVE FOR LIQUIFIED NATURAL GAS CONTAINERS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/092601
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a two-component epoxy resin composition, consisting of - a first component K1 comprising at least one epoxy resin A that contains on average more than one epoxy group per molecule; and - a second component K2 comprising a hardener B for epoxy resins, said hardener B comprising at least one polyamide and optionally at least one polyamidoamine; wherein the two-component epoxy resin composition contains between 2.8 and 10 wt. -%, preferably between 3.2 and 8 wt. -%, in particular between 4 and 7 wt. -%, based on the total weight of the composition, of at least one impact modifier I in either one or both of components K1 and K2; characterized in that said impact modifier I is a reaction product of at least one polymeric diol, at least one polyisocyanate, and cardanol; and that the total amount of polyamide and polyamidoamine accounts for at least 85 wt. -%, preferable at least 90 wt. -%of said hardener B. The two-component epoxy resin composition is highly suitable as structural adhesive for structural bonding in LNG or other cryogenic applications.
