Abstract:
This ultrasonic device (10) for assessing bone is provided with a distance meter (86) for measuring the distance between two oscillator units (18, 20) having a subject disposed therebetween. Ultrasound is transmitted and received between the two oscillator units (18, 20), the time in which the ultrasound propagates through the inside of the subject disposed between the units is acquired, and the sonic velocity inside the subject is obtained using the propagation time and the distance acquired by the distance meter (86). Furthermore, when the subject is disposed between the oscillator units (18, 20), movement of the oscillator units (18, 20) is controlled on the basis of the distance acquired by the distance meter (86).
