Abstract:
An ultrasonic probe device includes: a plurality of capacitive ultrasonic vibrators (110, 130, 140); a band control section (220); and bias-voltage modifying sections (272, 274). Each capacitive ultrasonic vibrator belongs to one of a plurality of groups. Each group includes at least one capacitive ultrasonic vibrator. In order that the ultrasonic probe device can transmit and/or receive all the frequencies included in the operation frequencies thereof, which are continuous frequency bands, within the operation period of the ultrasonic probe device, the band control section determines bias voltage values that differ for each group and the timings for applying direct-current bias voltages having the respective bias voltage values. The bias-voltage modifying sections modify the direct-current bias voltages to be applied to the capacitive ultrasonic vibrators in accordance with the bias voltage values and the timings determined by the band control section.
