Abstract:
Provided are an ultrasonic sensor capable of acquiring stable sending-receiving
characteristics and acquiring a desired directivity in a simple and inexpensive
manner, and a method for manufacturing the ultrasonic sensor. The ultrasonic
sensor (10) includes a base (12) made of a synthetic resin. The base (12) has a
cylindrical side face portion (14), and has a ring-shaped bent portion (16) bent
inward from the opening of one end of the side face portion (14). A ring-shaped
recess (18) is formed in the end portion of the inner face side of the bent portion
(16). A piezoelectric element (20) is arranged in the recess (18). A sound-absorbing
member (28) and a weight (24) are inserted and fixed in the base (12). A sheath
member (30) made of a synthetic resin is formed from the outer side of the base (12)
on the outer face of the piezoelectric element (20) and the outer face of the base
(12).
