Abstract:
Provided is an ultraviolet-curable silicone resin composition which is liquid, exhibits excellent applicability, can suppress the occurrence of display failure, and does not deteriorate visibility and which is suitable for the production of a flat-panel or large image display device with high luminance and high contrast. An ultraviolet-curable silicone resin composition comprising (A) a polyorganosiloxane which contains mercaptoalkyl groups bonded to silicon atoms and which exhibits a viscosity of 20 to 25000cP at 23°C, (B) an aliphatic-unsaturated-group-containing organopolysiloxane comprising (B1) a straight-chain polyorganosiloxane which is represented by formula (I) and which contains aliphatic unsaturated groups and (B2) a branched organopolysiloxane which is composed of SiO4/2 units, R'3SiO1/2 units, R'2SiO2/2 units, and if necessary, R'SiO3/2 units [wherein R's are each independently C1-6 alkyl or an aliphatic unsaturated group] and in which at least three R's per molecule are aliphatic unsaturated groups (with the proviso that (B2) is contained in an amount such that the number of aliphatic unsaturated groups present in (B2) accounts for at most 50% of the total number of aliphatic unsaturated groups present in (B)), (C) a photoreaction initiator, and (D) a silane compound which contains an aliphatic unsaturated group, the ratio of the number of mercaptoalkyl groups present in (A) to the total number of aliphatic unsaturated groups present in (B) and (D) being 0.5 to 1, the ratio of the number of mercaptoalkyl groups present in (A) to the number of aliphatic unsaturated groups present in (B) being 0.95 to 3, and the ratio of the number of mercaptoalkyl groups present in (A) to the number of aliphatic unsaturated groups present in (D) being 1.5 to 3; a sealing agent for an image display device, comprising the ultraviolet-curable silicone resin composition; and an image display device wherein the image display unit and the protection unit are sealed with the sealing agent.
