Abstract:
Provided is an ultraviolet light irradiation device that is improved in the inactivation capability against pathogens while ensuring high safety for human bodies and animals. The ultraviolet light irradiation device is provided with a light source capable of emitting ultraviolet light belonging to a wavelength band of 200 nm or longer and shorter than 240 nm and an optical filter which the ultraviolet light enters, in which a transmission spectrum of the optical filter which enters at an incidence angle of 0 degree has a first transmission band and a second transmission band that allow the transmission of 0-degree light therethrough and a first restriction band that restricts the transmission of the 0-degree light, the first transmission band is present in a wavelength band of 200 nm or longer and shorter than 240 nm, the second transmission band is present in a wavelength band of 300 nm to 400 nm exclusive, the first restriction band is present at least throughout the entire wavelength range of 240 nm or longer and shorter than 300 nm, and the upper limit of the first restriction band is formed within the range of longer than 300 nm and 380 nm or shorter.
