Abstract:
[Problem] To make it possible to provide an ultraviolet shielding material which has excellent transparency and excellent dispersibility in an aqueous solvent, while having an excellent ultraviolet shielding effect. [Solution] This ultraviolet shielding material is produced by a method which comprises: a synthesis step wherein titanium oxide nanotubes are synthesized from titanium oxide by hydrothermal synthesis; a stirring step wherein the titanium oxide nanotubes synthesized in the synthesis step and beads are mixed with each other and then stirred; and an ultrasonic processing step wherein the titanium oxide nanotubes are irradiated with ultrasound. Consequently, titanium oxide nanotubes having tube lengths of more than 150 nm but less than 1,000 nm are dispersed in an aqueous solvent, and this ultraviolet shielding material is therefore capable of having a good balance between high ultraviolet shielding effect and transparency, while exhibiting sufficient dispersibility in the aqueous solvent.
