While an absorbent article, which is provided with a stomach-side part disposed at a stomach side of a wearer during wear, a back-side part disposed at a back side of the wearer during wear, and a crotch part disposed between the legs of the wearer during wear, is in a state of having been folded in two along the crotch part such that the stomach-side part and the back-side part overlap each other, the stomach-side part and the back-side part are joined to each other at respective ends in the horizontal direction to obtain an underpants-type absorbent article in which a waist opening and a pair of leg openings are formed. Each joint part formed at the respective ends in the horizontal direction in order to join the stomach-side part and the back-side part extends from the waist opening side to the leg opening side. In at least one of the joint parts, the joining strength in a first section nearest to the leg opening is lower than the joining strength in a prescribed section of the joint part, said prescribed section being positioned between the first section and the waist opening.
