Provided is an underpants-type article of clothing that satisfies all of the following: enabling urination and defecation in a worn state; reducing the burden on a caregiver when worn; and preventing fouling from urination or defecation. The underpants-type article of clothing includes: a front-side fabric (12) that covers the ventral area; a continuous rear-side fabric (14) that covers from the dorsal area to the crotch area; a first joining means (16) that joins, in an attachable/detachable manner, a joining section formed at one end of the front-side fabric (12) in the left-right direction and a joining section formed at one end of a dorsal section of the rear-side fabric (14) in the left-right direction; a second joining means (18) that joins, in an attachable/detachable manner, a joining section formed at the other end of the front-side fabric (12) in the left-right direction and a joining section formed at the other end of the dorsal section (14A) of the rear-side fabric in the left-right direction; and a third joining means (20) that joins, in an attachable/detachable manner, a joining section formed at the lower end of the front-side fabric (12) and a joining section formed at the lower end of a crotch section (14B) of the rear-side fabric (14).
