Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention provides an underwater ultrasonic peening device capable of improving the efficiency of energy used for peening. Here, the underwater ultrasonic peening device, being an underwater ultrasonic peening device that performs ultrasonic peening on a target surface in contact with water, comprises a transducer, an ultrasonic tip, and a cover. The ultrasonic tip is connected to the transducer and generates cavities in the water by exciting the water in contact with one end surface thereof, and radiating ultrasonic waves. The cover accommodates therein the remaining portion of the ultrasonic tip other than at least a portion including one end section of the ultrasonic tip, and includes a coupling part of which one end section contacts the ultrasonic tip to prevent the water from flowing into the cover. The coupling part is provided at a pressure anti-node where the vibration displacement of the ultrasonic tip is zero so that shape deformation of the coupling part is minimized when the ultrasonic tip vibrates axially.
