Provided in embodiments of the present invention are an upgrade method, a communication device, and a computer-readable storage medium. The method comprises: selecting some communication devices to be upgraded from among communication devices to be upgraded for upgrading; optionally, after some of the communication devices to be upgraded are successfully upgraded, said devices serve as upgraded communication devices and send an upgrade file to adjacent communication devices to be upgraded; and optionally, the adjacent communication devices to be upgraded are upgraded according to the upgrade file. Thus, the problems in the prior art in which upgrade time for communication devices is long, the load on a server is heavy, and efficiency is low are solved. Furthermore, by means of the upgrade method, communication device, and computer-readable storage medium provided in embodiments of the present invention, some communication devices to be upgraded are upgraded first, and then the communication devices which have completed upgrading are used to share the upgrade load and balance the load, thus improving upgrade efficiency to a great extent while simultaneously improving the reliability and usability of communication devices.
