This water treatment device is provided with: a raw water special air mixing nozzle (7); a filtration tank (5) housing a filter layer (4) that comprises the two layers of an upper layer (2) and a lower layer (3), the upper layer comprising a filter having a lower specific gravity and a greater particle size than the filter of the lower layer; a water collection pipe (13) that removes filtered water and, during backwashing, supplies backwashing water to the filter layer; a drainwater trough (12); and an upper-layer purification device (10). The upper-layer purification device is provided with an upper-layer purification pipe support member (17), an upper-layer purification water pipe (18), a surface-washing special air mixing nozzle (19), an air intake pipe (20), and horizontal air pipes (31, 32). The raw water special air mixing nozzle (7) is attached to a raw water inflow tank provided to a portion of the drainwater trough (12).
