Abstract:
The use of a 6-phosphoglucose isomerase in regulating and controlling the starch content and biomass of a plant. The 6-phosphoglucose isomerase can specifically be a protein such as A1), A2) or A3): A1) a protein with an amino acid sequence being sequence 2 in a sequence listing; A2) a protein which is obtained by means of substituting and/or deleting and/or adding one or more amino acid residues of the protein of A1), has at least 90% identity to the protein shown in A1) and has 6-phosphoglucose isomerase activity; and A3) a fusion protein obtained by means of connecting a protein tag to the N terminus and/or C terminus of A1) or A2). The 6-phosphoglucose isomerase can be used for increasing the photosynthetic efficiency, starch content, and biomass of a crop.
