Abstract:
USE of an agent that deacetylates a transcription factor KLF4 to promote a transcriptional activity thereof in preparation of a medicament for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension is provided. The agent is configured to deacetylate the KLF4 at a K228. A method for maintaining functions of pulmonary artery endothelial cells in vitro by deacetylating a transcription factor KLF4 to promote a transcriptional activity thereof, includes: contacting pulmonary artery endothelial cells with an agent in an amount effective to increase the deacetylation of KLF4. The agent is configured to deacetylate the KLF4 at a K228 to promote the transcriptional activity thereof towards Pdgfb. A method for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension, includes: administering an effective amount of an agent that deacetylates a transcription factor KLF4 to promote a transcriptional activity thereof to a patient or a subject in need of treatment. The agent is configured to deacetylate the KLF4 at a K228.
