Abstract:
Disclosed in the present application is use of phenytoin sodium as a mitophagy inducer. Provided in the present application is new use of the phenytoin sodium as the mitophagy inducer, which can selectively induce damaged mitochondria to undergo autophagy without affecting normal mitochondria. By means of establishing a disease model, the present application further verifies at the animal level that the phenytoin sodium or a pharmaceutical composition containing same can effectively reduce the death rate of sepsis and reduce the serum creatinine level in a patient suffering from ischemia-reperfusion injury.
