Embodiments of the present application disclose a user positioning method, comprising: a central unit (CU) network element sending configuration information to a distributed unit (DU) network element, wherein the configuration information is used to configure a positioning reference signal sent by the DU network element; and the CU network element sending a first message to target user equipment (UE), wherein the first message comprises the type of information to be measured, or configuration information of the positioning reference signal, and is used by the target UE to perform positioning measurement. The embodiments of the present application further provide corresponding network elements, a system, and a storage medium. The technical solution of the present application provides a user positioning method for a CU/DU split network architecture.
