Abstract:
A vacuum pump (1) is provided with: a pump means (2) for compressing and then discharging, from an exhaust port (12b), a gaseous body that was sucked in from a suction port (11b); and a motor (3) for driving the pump means. A housing (4) for storing a stator core (22) is provided as the motor casing for the motor. A cooling path (Sc) is formed between the outer surface of the stator core and the inner surface of the housing, and the motor is cooled by circulating the gaseous body that was discharged from the exhaust port of the pump means into the cooling path. The properties of the motor and the suction performance of the pump means can be maintained by cooling the motor.
