Abstract:
A valve timing adjustment device (10) comprises: an intake-side variable valve mechanism (20) that can change the valve timing of an intake valve of an engine (90); and an exhaust-side variable valve mechanism (30) that can change the valve timing of an exhaust valve of the engine (90). The exhaust-side variable valve mechanism (30) has an electric motor (31), and a phase change section (33) provided on a rotational transmission path between a crankshaft (91) and an exhaust-side camshaft (93). The phase change section (33) has an input shaft (35) connected to the electric motor (31), and changes the rotational phase of the exhaust-side camshaft (93) in relation to the crankshaft (91) by reducing the rotational speed of the input shaft (35) and transmitting this rotation to the exhaust-side camshaft (93). The rotational direction of the input shaft (35) when advancing the rotational phase is opposite the rotational direction of the crankshaft (91).
