Abstract:
The present invention comprises: a back pressure chamber 38 that is formed on a rear end side of a lock pin 33 of a pin accommodating hole 32 provided in a first vane 14a; a discharge passage 39 that is disposed inside the back pressure chamber and allows communication between the back pressure chamber and a region outside a housing 6; and a communication passage 41 that is provided in a vane rotor 9 and communicates with a delay angle side oil pressure chamber 15 and that has a small opening 41c which is open to the back pressure chamber in a first state where the lock pin is inserted into a lock hole 31, and which is blocked by the lock pin in a second state where the lock pin has been removed from the lock hole. A first cross-sectional area Se of the small opening of the communication passage is ≥ 1 mm2 and is formed so as to be smaller than a second cross-sectional area Sv of a discharge groove. In addition, the relation Se/Sv ≤ 0.18 is set. Due to this configuration, an excessive rise in oil pressure caused by releasing of a lock can be suppressed and locking of a lock member can be speedily released.
