Abstract:
In the present invention, a phase changing mechanism 3 for changing the relative rotational position of a timing sprocket 1 and a camshaft 2 is provided with: a motor stator 14 in which an annular stator coil 15 of an electric motor is embedded in the interior of the motor stator, and which is fixed to a chain case 22 of an engine; and a permanent magnet 17 that is disposed on an inner peripheral side of the stator coil and is fixed to a motor output shaft 16 of the electric motor. An eccentric shaft section 25 constituting a part of a reduction mechanism 13 is integrally fixed to an axial direction end section of the motor output shaft, with no joint mechanism therebetween. This makes it possible to improve the efficiency of the work of assembling the constituent members, because no joint mechanism is present between the electric motor and the reduction mechanism.
