Abstract:
This invention relates to a variable draft boat capable of controlling its draft level from a shallow one to a deep one in order to travel continuously from shallow rivers, lakes, etc., to deep ocean. The variable draft boat of the invention has a construction wherein a pair of right and left external hull members (11) are disposed along both sides of a center hull (10), are connected to each other at the upper parts of both front and rear ends and are supported by vertical movement means (12) utilizing hydraulic cylinders (12b) or the like so as to be capable of moving up and down with respect to the center hull (10). When the external hull members (11) reach the highest position, the displacement borne by the center hull (10) becomes maximal but the displacement borne by the external hull members (11) becomes minimal, thereby providing the shallowest draft (H1). When the external hull members (11) reach the lowest position, the displacement borne by the center hull (10) becomes minimal or zero, providing the deepest draft (H3). Thus, the draft can be adjusted freely between the shallowest one (H1) and the deepest one (H3).
