Abstract:
The present invention relates to a variable light transmittance element, and a color filter and a smart window for a display device comprising same, the variable light transmittance element having a variable light transmittance structure which comprises: a first electrode; a variable light transmittance layer formed of a transparent semiconductor material in which metal nanoparticles are dispersed, and electrically connected to the first electrode; a second electrode; and an insulation layer interposed between the variable light transmittance layer and the second electrode . The variable light transmittance element, according to the present invention, applies a voltage to both ends of a variable light transmittance stacked structure including an electrode, an insulation layer, and a metal nanoparticle-containing transparent semiconductor layer, thereby inducing a change in the state of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), such that the light transmittance and color of the metal nanoparticle-containing transparent semiconductor layer can be freely varied. Accordingly, the variable light transmittance element can be effectively used for transparent information display products, such as smart windows, smart glasses, etc., as well as for a color filter for existing display devices.
