Abstract:
This variable magnification optical system (CL) includes a front lens group (GA) which has a positive refractive power, a first middle lens group (GM1) which has negative refractive power, a second middle lens group (GM2) which has positive refractive power, and a subsequent lens group (GR); the subsequent lens group (GR) includes a first focus lens group (GF1) which is arranged farthest to the object side of the subsequent lens group (GR), and at least one other focus lens group which is arranged on the image side of the first focus lens group (GF1); of the other focus lens groups, the focus lens group that is nearest to the first focus lens group (GF1) is configured from one lens component, and satisfies the conditional expression below. -6.00 < fFs / fw < 6.00, wherein fFs is the focal length of that focus lens group which has the strongest refractive strength, and fw is the focal length of the variable magnification optical system (EL) in the wide-angle end state.
