Abstract:
This variable reception range system is configured such that the reception range in which portable devices (1, 201) can receive signals transmitted by vehicle control devices (100, 300) is variable, wherein one among the vehicle control device and the portable terminal is provided with a transmission unit (10) that transmits an intensity determination signal, and the other is provided with a determination signal reception unit (3) that receives the intensity determination signal and a reception intensity determination unit (8) that determines the reception intensity of the intensity determination signal received by the determination signal reception unit. The variable reception range system is provided with: determination units (14, 209) which, on the basis of the reception intensity determined by the reception intensity determination unit, determine whether the portable device is within an operation range in which vehicle control of the portable device can be performed, or whether the portable device is within the reception range but outside of the operation range; and a reception range setting unit (7) which, on the basis of the determination that the portable device is within the reception range but outside of the operation range, narrows the reception range so that the portable device is positioned outside of the reception range while maintaining the reception range at a size equal to or greater than the operation range.
