Abstract:

Obtained is a vehicle body structure configured so that, without impairing the ease of entering and exiting the vehicle, an energy absorbing member is disposed on the outer side, in the width direction of the vehicle, of a framework member which forms the lower edge of a door opening through which vehicle occupants enter and exit the vehicle. A vehicle body structure (10) is provided with: a rocker (20) extending in the front-rear direction and having a closed cross-section section (20C) having a closed cross-section in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction; an outer panel (55) for covering the rocker (20) from the outer side in the width direction of the vehicle; and an EA member (54) for a side collision, disposed between the rocker (20) and the outer panel (55). An opening flange (80) is formed by joining the raised flange (62) of the outer panel (55) and a raised flange (60) which is disposed on the outer side of the closed cross-section section (20C) of the rocker (20) in the width direction of the vehicle.
