Disclosed in the present application are a vehicle brake system and a related method. The system comprises an electronic hydraulic brake (EHB) system and an electronic-mechanical brake (EMB) system, the EHB being used for front axle brake, the EMB being used for rear axle brake, and an EHB electronic control unit EHB (EHB ECU) being in communication connection with an EMB electronic control unit (EMB ECU), wherein the EHB comprises at least two devices, and the at least two devices have the same function; the first device of the at least two devices operates; and when the first device fails, the second device of the at least two devices operates. According to the embodiments of the present application, at least two devices having the same function are provided in an EHB of an EHB and EMB hybrid brake system, so as to increase the redundancy of the system, thereby improving the reliability of the system.
